17 people. one hour. one purpose. kevin's place. pre drinks.
1500 asians (mostly). one night. one place. st james theatre. dv8.
have i told you enough? in detail this is one big gathering of all (almost) the friends I know here. old friends i know since the christchurch days and new friends i know 24 hours before the predrinks started.
maybe i wasn't too good a host. haha. people just sat there forming their own circle chatting away. ain't good. too quiet. no interaction between different groups.
yeah, maybe it's the lack of real alcohol?
tequila came into the scene. one bottle just disappeared within minutes after everyone downed a shot each.
AS a result?
Mei did her acrobatic (or rather scary i should say??) stunt! (Maybe it should just be aired on Discovery eh?)
Salt was cheap. spreaded on the table like the sand on the beach. sliced lemon played the part of a 'nerve stabilizer' after each tequila shots.
Maybe it was too little time in the end, when we could have had more before heading to the venue. Blame me. Coke's not enough, else more whisky and coke could be served. Maybe we should have had two vans instead of 4 cabs arriving so far in between each other, timewise that is.
It was a great event overall. Though we've had some mini dramas in the group. I wouldn't say the name. U know who u r. What happens in the group stays in the group!
Someone puked.
Someone danced all night. Non stop!
Someone pinched someone.
someone (outside the group) trying to pick up/ get near someone.
someone's face was blushing like a tomato after a few shots.
someone/ or a few splashed a lotta cash on drinks.
Some highlights ya?
BUT I'M PRETTY SURE EVERYONE HAD A GOOD TIME.

hmm.... maybe we should create a group ourselves.
Jengis and I will call it: ACG.

If you're concerned about your safety when you're out and about you can now send a TXT message to 7233 (SAFE) so your movements are recorded on a central database.
It's great if you realise no one knows where you are, you can send a FREE TXT saying where you're going, which is then logged against your number.
In the unlikely event you go missing, the police have somewhere to start looking (although if you're in danger then you should call them!).

now that's a good start to make it a safer place to live in. Pays to let people know where you are at anytime ya.
But
If you have no where to go it would be a worry too. Since you've got two off days to take and just wondering where you want to spend your time... if you're wondering who it is: it's me.
Any suggestions?

How often do you get to max out your weekend? I haven't done this for some time now. And after a tiring one I couldn't be bothered to write too much about it. But it's something worth mentioning:
Friday night started early with a proper dinner at 'The Ponsonby' in Ponsonby (well, it's not the 'duh' response you should be giving me, in fact it's called The Ponsonby). This dinner was dedicated to Pei Ling who's leaving the kiwi land for good and Janice who turned 25!
The dinner was followed by some kick ass booze at my place before we set off for Margies www.margaritas.co.nz. A supper at Denny's rounded off the night at around 3am.
Woke up to a pretty early Saturday at midday. Did some grocery shopping and tasted some special cold noodle for lunch at Mt Albert, washed my car (usual thing on a saturday anywayz). usual thing for a saturday would be attending a saturday vigil at the church in parnell before dinner....
The real thing on a Saturday night is a Karaoke marathon! TEll me, how long can you sing in one evening? 1 hour? We stayed for 4 long hours! haha!... jay chow, joey yung, na ying, all the songs u could possibly sing...
headed home at 2am....
6 hours later I was up again, sending Mike and Peiling off... pretty sad in Peiling's case cos she's one of the first few friends I knew when i first arrived in new zealand. "all the best to u. keep in touch!"
sunday night ended with some real feast at Jan and Mel's place. Thanks for the hospitality!
Will make the effort to blog soon. .... tiring mondayz.....

There has been so many Zidane's headbutting videos circulating around lately. ARen't you sick of it? Yes I am.
But there's one you shouldn't miss: Bush and Blair caught on tape! No, not that type you're thinking. It's the 'Yo Blair How are you doing?' Familiar?
Read the whole transcript here:
http://adamboulton.typepad.com/my_weblog/2006/07/bush_blair_unpl.html
Something really caught my attention between the normal lines:
"Bush: Tell her to put him on them on the spot. Thanks for the sweaters it's awfully thoughtful of you
Blair: It's a pleasure
Bush: I know you picked it out yourself
Blair: Oh, absoultely, in fact I knitted it myself"
That's gay!
Check this out at the Gay Bar! by Bush and Blair.
Come on world leaders. It's embarassing!

What's life without money? Torture. What's money without life? Torture.
It's just finding the balance in between these two really. But how many of us can really do this? It's not easy at all. Back in the varsity days when splashing out on a $12 dinner at a restaurant was nothing. But when you come out to work, every single dollar counts!
Varsity Life vs Working Life:
$12/meal vs $5/meal
been talking to a few friends of mine who are still in university and only i get to realise how different the spending habit of both worlds can be.
Yes, you can spend $8 on a Big Mac meal every single day but how much would you have spent in a week? $56! and bear in mind that it's only a meal a day. What about entertainment? University involves so much entertainment that you wouldn't care that much on every $5 you spend on parking, $10 on movies, $10 on pool. What about shopping? Yes! a shirt for a guy could easily suck $30 out of your wallet. If you're in uni, even a normal cotton Billabong jacket could worth $100.
How could a student afford that? They simply CAN'T. As far as i know, $150 per week is the current maximum for a student allowance. No one can really survive on his own just by using the $150. So who 'SUPPORTS' this mad money splashing campaign?
PARENTS.
Stop. We're not gonna blame them. In fact, we should thank them.
We wouldn't learn if we don't mistakes. It's lessons from life that we remember and take note of which enables us to advance.
What I'd say now to the uni students is: spend. I can't tell you how to spend wisely because you don't know what 'wise' means.
But if you have a chance to save, start saving. $10 a week makes a difference! Quit McDonald's , start cooking at home.

Finally. World Cup's over. Italy won it in style. France lost it. With a shameful sending off of Zizou. What a way to end a glorious career. Well, he had the BALLS to headbutt, but as a result might have lost the GOLDEN BALLS (boot). Just like that.
Enough of my bragging about football for now. We'll wait another 4 years for some more drama. For now, we, the ppl from this corner of the world, shall start taking some much needed rest.

Football is really unpredictable. Just before the start of the tournament everyone thought that Brazil could just win easily with the likes of Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Robinho and co. Other heavyweights include Argentina, Netherlands, Germany just to name a few.
AS the game progresses the unexpected happens at every stage. Luckily I have not bet on any of these games. Initially I predicted Argentina could go all the way after its thrashing of Serbia by six goals to none. Imagine: more than 20 passes to complete one goal, that's team work!
In the round of 16: South Koreans
The impressive work rate of South Koreans were not enough to qualify. Switzerland: Top of group?? The quality of the French were enough to just hang in there. Japs somehow were not as good as I thought they'd be, after being beaten by the Oz....
Towards the quarter final: Netherlands
The spanish were surprisingly beaten by the French. French, being former champions and all that, had not shown any signs of championship form. The game at this stage in my opinion could easily be the one between Portugal and Netherland. A tight game I should say, even though I preferred Netherlands at this stage.
Towards the semis:
I always thought Argentinians could go all the way but they were really unfortunate to have met the host this early. The match to watch was the England vs Portugal one where only the sending off of Rooney changed it all. Had Rooney stayed on, maybe England could stand a chance. Yet without a solid backing of a good penalty shootout history, it means nothing anyway. Becks' retired. Rooney's kicking Ronaldo's ass at OT training camp. Talking about gossips in football: No one can beat England in this. Brazil had not produced performance of 2002 when they last won it, and France with the sudden revitalisation of its ageing Zizou together with Henry and Vieira, had benefited from this and went all the way....
Towards the finals, beating Portugal. A harsh penalty was the only thing that separated these two sides. A toothless attack from them could not make it happen at all.
Italians were stronger as the games progress, beating the host Germany by two late goals. They do deserve it. After all, not all hosts should win it. They could progress only up to one stage, when quality of a team takes over the rest of it, and Italians rise up to the occasion.
This, for now, is the battle between old people: Del Piero vs Zidane. Who would you bet on?
My suggestion is: you gotta play the cards right.
Not you. Not the gamblers.
It's the referees. Wake up. It's time to be fair.

Superman. What's with all the hype? Same storyline. Watched it with a few friends last night at Village. If I had to pay full price for this show I'd think twice (by the way, thanks to Yvonne and Dave for the offer).
By the way, you ever thought: why is Superman always helping out people only in America? even though there were a few scenes where he was spotted everywhere around the world saving people? my point is: everything that happened in the movie revolves around the states. what about us in Africa, Asia, etc? Even when he fell back to earth after lifting the stupid rock out into the space, somehow the gravity in America is much stronger than in other continents. and he somehow fell onto the ground near the place he works (as Clark Kent). Bloody nonsense.
Probably I'm over the whole cartoon age now.... maybe i'm just too old for this. Maybe i should just enjoy the movie. maybe i should just shut off my brain...
