It was my birthday two days ago. Never really planned to celebrate it. All the worst shits I could think of happened a few days before that. I bumped into a big obstacle in my studies. I was stunned. I was speechless. At that very moment, I thought, 'Kevin, you're gone, (snapping finger) just like that' at least that's what every soul would respond, I know, I can't cry over something that's happened and have done nothing to rescue it. Well, I've tried what I could. Now, I'll just have to get myself back into one piece and get on with life. Yes, I am trying. This birthday of mine couldn't come at a better timing I should say. Why? It lets me reflect on everything about me and around me. As said, I never expected such a shock in my entire life. This is the one! My results! Well, "Sometimes the best lessons are the hardest ones" that's what I was told. "For now, keep going" yes, I know, I can't do much apart from just keep going. This is a lesson, it comes at a cost. I just hope it comes with a lesser cost in the end. For now, I could say well this is the costliest birthday gift ever!Yes, I am 23. I think it really is about time that I should start working. No more studying, it's just taking up too much expense without any income at all, bearing in mind that I'm not a person who sticks to theory all the time, I need practical hands-on work! Yeah, it's time. What do you think?Back to my birthday, I'd like to say it's a meaningful one for me this year (not that any other years are not, but this is the most meaningful). I have a few persons to thank. Firstly it's God, without You I'd be nothing. Secondly my parents who have been so worried about me after learning of my results and studies, don't you guys worry no more, it ain't an easy journey, but I'm ok, I'll keep going, especially all the calls and text messages, it helps to keep me going, greatly appreciate it. Thirdly, a few gifts from a few other important people in my life. Tomato and my sister Carolyn have been compiling this 'strategy' for me to follow, as if it's 'The Art of War', thanks a lot, it's really helpful! Also my girlfriend Mabel for planning all the celebrations days ahead. Yeah, I never really expected this from you but you're such a good planner. Thanks for the gift(s) and time spent with me. And also the little birthday cake. yeah, they're yummy. No doubt about that. Finally, a few thank you's to some other friends who even bothered to send me a message on my day! My best friend in UK Shawn for the email (finally you sent an email!), my best old friend from back home Karen 'Soo' for the text messages (thanks for rmembering!), txt from Rachel, and messages from Friendster: Brendan, Jengis, Claris, Cheney, Grace and JiaFoong. Not many greetings this year, but that's what makes this a special one. Really.
