inside my mind.

12.9.06

i don't know how overwhelmed i was by this over the weekend. a week ago i was contemplating whether the 30 people i had in my list would turn up for the party.

this was pretty much a random party. it's called 'nine-nine' party. why's that? basically because it fell on the ninth of september. moreover, in mandarin, 'nine' sounds like 'alcohol'. in addition to that, heather came up from wellington, specially requesting something 'happening'. all the reasons were there. why not go for something big?

at last count there were 40 people who crashed my party. it's not even called 'my' party. in fact, it's EVERYONE's party! I'd call it a networking function. but screw it. everyone had a blast as far as i know. networking 'function' became some kind of a 'market'. 'pasar' if you wanna call it the malaysian way (wet market where people just talk loudly to bargain). 2.5 hours of non-stop noise, mixed with random music/songs from my pc plus some midnight E! programme featuring nude girls having fun. this was probably something i did not expect.

a few hundred bucks of alcohol splashed out overnight. if u actually go to the pubs to buy a single shot it'd cost you 7 bucks. why not buy them all in bulk/bottles and share amongst the people? Thanks to all who contributed to this.

Thanks to the closest bunch of people who helped out. Friends who brought friends who in turn brought their own friends (? blur but i dont' care! as long as everyone enjoyed it!) There were so many of the people that I didn't know before that but hey this was an opportunity to loosen up a bit and go all out to know more people. A reply to Arron's txt went like this "Expect the unexpected".

There were some shy guys, some shy girls; some 'Friendster' famous guys; some girls' names I couldn't match with (well now i can for 90% of it); some Korean actors, some managers; even some freaking 'rich' people who got introduced to heaps of random people. in fact, i am amazed at how small auckland can be since the few bunch of friends that were invited know each other in some way... "hey i know you!" "aren't you from the same primary school? (??!!)" ...

The Met was the destination after this drinking session. more dramas followed but I couldn't be sober enough to tell all. Leave it to Mei and Christine, the top two UMSA chics to tell all.

Finally before I sign off, I'd like to thank you all for coming. It's happening because of you. Not me. It's your participation that makes it enjoyable.

Loosen up. You'll never know much you can receive until you give!

Another networking. Success.

p.s. leave a comment for this post if you've been to this event. have ur say!
